Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to build your CV while also giving you the best possible insight into how charities and not for profit sector work as well as an incredible sense of giving something back.

If you have capacity for a sabbatical or time to complete an internship, make sure that the role you take adds value to your CV as well as supporting the charity, helps to build valuable skills and experience that you can confidently talk about at interview.

Places on internships can be competitive especially with the larger high profile charities, sometimes it's better to look closer to home. Consider approaching small or local organisations who would really benefit from an extra pair of hands in their Fundraising or Marketing teams. The Charity Choice website is an excellent tool for searching charities in your area or by cause.
