IOF Mentoring

What if your experience could inspire others?

As part of our partnership with the London Institute of Fundraising Group we are calling for experienced and recognised fundraisers who may be looking to add a new dynamic to their career, to share their incredible experience and skills with others.

Setting aside only a few hours a month, you would inspire and make a real difference to another fundraiser’s career development as well as enhancing your own mentoring skills. All that is needed from you is a willingness to share your fundraising experience and an enthusiasm to mentor other fundraisers in the sector.

The mentoring scheme has now recently expanded thanks to generous support from the City Bridge Trust and they are actively recruiting mentors.

What is the London Mentoring Scheme?

The IoF’s London mentoring scheme is a unique opportunity for mentees to access fundraising expertise tailored to their individual development needs, in addition to mentors developing their management and leadership qualities. Here are 10 good reasons to be a mentor written by a current mentor on the scheme.

The Commitment

Mentors are required to attend a full day of mentor training plus a full day of matching. Mentees are required to attend the full day of matching. Dates for these can be found on their website under the ‘Dates and Deadlines’ header. You must be a member of the IoF to apply as a mentor. The mentor and mentee relationship lasts 12 months, with mentor and mentee pairings to meet regularly in London, usually around two hours per month. The dates and times of the mentor and mentee meetings are to be agreed between each mentor/mentee pairing.
