Job description

Eden Brown is working with the impressive University of Surrey on their exciting Team Manager position for their Major Gifts team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a rapidly expanding high-performing team at a collaborative University with an imminent campaign. The Team Manager will draw on specialist expertise and skills to manage a team of specialist major gift fundraisers (5 direct reports) and provide strategic advice, leadership and active input to fundraising from a range of donors - primarily alumni and philanthropists. You will also act as the key relationship manager for a small prospect portfolio of your own. With a team of Advancement Managers you will build rapport and develop relationships across the University's academics and lead proposals for philanthropic funding of key projects.

The Team Manager will also act as a key relationship manager for private individual donors, companies and family trusts and foundations with a view to leading them towards providing support for agreed projects. Success will be measured by: the amount of money raised in cash received and secured gifts (pledges), the number of donors to the University, the level of engagement activity undertaken by the team and how this activity contributes to achieving the University's strategic goals. You will establish, build and maintain strong working relationships with academics and leadership to ensure fundraising success. In addition the role will be heavily involved with the execution of the University's first institution-wide fundraising campaign.

This role would suit someone with significant major gifts fundraising/marketing/sales experience, also a strong natural drive towards getting out into the field, understanding of the major sources of philanthropic funding (individual, trust, corporate and aware of the key sources of non-philanthropic funding for the University sector and proven experience of having successfully managed and developed a team and the ability to coach and influence others to achieve results - ideally in a fundraising department.

This is a truly superb role working with a hugely supportive line manager. The team is growing with lots of potential for further growth not only for the team but also for this role. To find out more contact Tony Williams on or 020 3017 5014.

Closing date is 23 February.

Eden Brown is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer. Eden Brown Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
